EDST is distinct in its concentration of graduate students relative to other Faculty of Education (FoE) departments. We offer Master of Education, Master of Arts, Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Education programs, with our students usually specializing in one of the following areas:

• Adult Learning and Education (ALE)
  
• Higher Education (HIED)
• Educational Administration and Leadership (EDAL)
• Society, Culture and Politics in Education (SCPE)
• Adult Learning and Global Change (ALGC)
• Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
• Doctor of Educational Leadership and Policy (EdD)

While individual scholarship projects and themes range widely, EDST faculty members’ research activities fit into six interdisciplinary research clusters:

• Children, youth and society
• Comparative and international education
• Engaging the political: democracy, citizenship and education
• Indigeneity: Honouring heart, mind, body and spirit
• Philosophy of educational research
• Policy studies in education

 EDST faculty members also direct two FoE research centres: The Center for Policy Studies in Higher Education and Training (CHET), and The Center for Culture, Identity and Education (CCIE).

EDST is also home to the Coolie Verner Memorial Reading Room.
