Funding Opportunities for Graduate Students

Tuesday, June 26th, 3:00 – 4:30 p.m.
Ponderosa Commons Oak House, Room 2012

This session aims to provide information for graduate students about funding opportunities. In this session, Dr. Jeff Miller and Dr. Andrea Globa will discuss funding opportunities in the UBC’s Centre for Teaching, Learning, and Technology and Mitacs, respectively. Although open to everyone, the target audience is Ph.D. students who are looking for further support in their current program and/or applying for postdoctoral opportunities.

Jeff Miller is the Senior Associate Director, for projects and faculty partnerships with the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology at the University of British Columbia.
He leads a team that supports interdisciplinary teaching and learning projects across the University to develop educational projects in on-campus, blended and fully online courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. He also provides administrative oversight for UBC’s Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund (tlef.ubc.ca), which provides grant funding to UBC faculty, students and staff to enhance the quality of learning through innovations in teaching.

Dr. Andrea Globa is a Business Development Specialist with Mitacs. Mitacs is a national, not-for-profit organization working with 60 universities, thousands of companies, and both federal and provincial governments, to build partnerships that support industrial and social innovation in Canada. In her role at Mitacs, Andrea helps university researchers access Mitacs funding, and she connects eligible non-profits and local businesses with UBC researchers for applied research projects.
