Saimou is a first-year MA student in Adult Learning and Education program. His main research interest lies in understanding how institutional forces facilitate or inhibit the professional identity construction as teachers in private language schools for Chinese Master of Education graduates in Ontario.
Prior to joining EDST, Saimou graduated from the University of Ottawa with a M.Ed degree in second language education, and taught English writing and speaking in Toronto and Beijing. He also has an active engagement in academic and professional communities where he has presented at several conferences particularly in second language writing (e.g., 2015 BC TEAL; 2015 TESL Toronto; 2015 SSLW declined; please see http://www.slideshare.net/SaimouZhang/teaching-coherence-in-second-language-writing-485 68036)
Interestingly, Saimou has an intermediate proficiency level in French (B1-B2 level), and holds the belief that French gives him a “French identity”, or a door to immerse in more philosophical works. With an ethnic origin as Beijinger, he is extraordinarily generous with his friends, and keenly willing to meet more new friends vis-à-vis.
