Graduate Assistant (GAA) for the Westcoast Philosophy of Education Society (WPES)

The Westcoast Philosophy of Education Society is a new regional society for scholars engaged in
philosophy of education all along the West Coast of Canada and the United States, from Alaska
to California. To get this new regional society up and running, Dr. Claudia Ruitenberg is looking to hire a graduate assistant for a maximum total of 60 hours.


Role
The candidate for the role of WPES Graduate Assistant is expected to:

  • further develop the WPES website (WordPress);
  • communicate with philosophy of education scholars on the West Coast about
  • involvement in WPES and to assess interest in various activities;
  • assist with the organization of lectures or other activities (co-)sponsored by WPES;
  • liaise with other philosophy of education societies.


Eligibility
The WPES Graduate Assistant must be:

  • an active, full-time doctoral student or candidate in EDST, and
  • engaged in the field of philosophy of education, ideally in the current doctoral program but minimally in the Master’s program.

Qualifications

  • Good English communication skills
  • Has attended at least one philosophy of education conference (PES, CPES, PESA, PESGB, ESPE, INPE, OVPES, NEPES, SEPES, NAAPE)
  • Experience with WordPress websites is an asset
  • Previous conference or other event organization is an asset

Remuneration
Max. 60 hours total at $30 per hour, spread over 2-4 months (negotiable).
