The Department of Educational Studies invites applications for Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTA) for the Summer Session 2023.
Course no. and number of sections available:
EDST 404. 1 cr. (Summer Term, July 4th to 28th, 2023). 6 tutorials (T01, T02, T03, T04, T07, T08).
Three TA appointments are available. (2 tutorials/appointment.)
Duties:
Attend lectures. (Tues. 13:00-14:30.)
Lead tutorials. (T07, T08. Thu. 8:30-10:00; T01, T02. Thu. 10:30-12:00; T03, T04. Thu. 13:00-14:30).
The instructor will assign tutorial sections to each TA. You must be available to attend lectures and tutorials at all of the times listed above.
Tasks for these positions include: leading tutorials; grading assignments; attending planning meetings; assisting the instructor with the preparation and distribution of materials; maintaining class records; meeting with students; research related to the course; and/or other tasks involved in course preparation and delivery as assigned by the instructor.
Salary:
$33.80-$35.13/hour per the CUPE 2278 Salary Scale
Approximately 25 hours per TA appointment is available.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have advanced training and/or be enrolled in a relevant master’s degree or doctoral degree. Excellent communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively are also required.
A background in philosophy of education, or ethics, or education law, and/or as a classroom K-12 teacher, is desirable but not required.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for a Graduate Teaching Assistant position, applicants must be registered as a student at UBC.
