SESSIONAL LECTURER POSITIONS for Summer Session – 2024/2025

The Department of Educational Studies will offer sessional lecturer positions for the 2024/2025 Summer Session. 

 

Summer Term 1 Online – 3.0 credits per section, May 13 – June 20, 2024

ADHE 327, Teaching Adults – 3 sections

ADHE 328, Institutions of Adult Education – 3 sections

ADHE 329, Developing Short Courses, Workshops & Seminars – 3 sections

ADHE 330, The Community Practice of Adult Education – 2 sections

ADHE 412, An Overview of Adult Education – 3 sections

 

 

To be eligible to teach courses at a 300 or 400 level, applicants must hold a masters or doctoral degree (or be enrolled in a doctoral program). Preference is given to applicants with PhD (or ABD) degree in adult education or in a field/discipline relevant to the course title.  Experience teaching in an online environment is preferred. There will be approximately 30 students enrolled in online courses.

 

Course instructor duties may include some or all of the following: familiarizing yourself with the course management system, updating course materials and assignments, monitoring and directing online discussions, teaching, preparation and involvement in discussion periods and tutorials; marking assignments and exams; providing feedback to students; being available during “office hours” including in-person meeting with students if needed; academic counselling of students; exam invigilation duties; and reporting grades. Preference will be given to applicants who can contribute to the existing strengths of ADHE courses in terms of mode of delivery, maintaining academic integrity, and helping our students learn most up-to-date knowledge in the field.

The offers made to doctoral candidates are subject to permission from the research supervisor and Graduate Advisor.

 

All positions are subject to enrollment minimums and budgetary approval, and are governed by

Part 7 of the Collective Agreement on Conditions of Appointments for Sessional Faculty Members. The remuneration for the assignment will be paid at the sessional pay scale at http://www.hr.ubc.ca/faculty-relations/collective-agreements/salary-agreement/#4
