Dr. Sharon Stein’s appointment to a Professorship in Climate Complexity and Coloniality in Higher Education

Congratulations  to Dr. Sharon Stein, Associate Professor, Department of Educational Studies, who has been appointed upon approval of the Dean and the Provost to the Professorship in Climate Complexity and Coloniality in Higher Education for a non-renewable three-year term, effective from September 1, 2024, to August 31, 2027.

This Professorship aims to advance leading-edge research on the climate emergency in higher education, focusing on critically engaged and complexity-informed approaches that emphasize connections between colonialism and climate change. It supports UBC’s commitment to act upon and respond to the climate emergency through sustainability leadership and advances our Faculty’s presence and engagement in climate change education, particularly in research.
