Academic Peer Advisors

The Peer Academic Advisors provide services for all EDST graduate students, including student-to-student academic counselling. Information and support will be provided to students that have questions or concerns about degree requirements, policies, procedures, traditions, expectations, and available resources. In addition to academic concerns, the Peer Academic Advisor will assist EDST students who are new to Vancouver (e.g., housing advice, social networks). The duties include providing opportunities for face-to-face meetings and/ or virtual office hours via Connect, UBC’s online Learning Management System.

Academic Research and Publication Support

The Academic Research & Publication Assistants support the professional development of graduate students, especially with respect to their scholarly activity.  They are community builders who plan workshops and events, with the assistance of others, aimed at supporting students’ skill development in academic writing and publishing, preparing for ethical review, oral and poster presentations, scholarship and research funding application, and career development. They facilitate the dissemination of information related to publication venues and the publication protocols of various journals, introduce students to information regarding existing and new journals and publishers, and disseminate information regarding conferences.
