Participating in EDST student townhalls is one way you can ensure your voice is heard and your concerns are represented in the department’s decision making.

TRADE SECRETS AND THE EVERYDAY KNOWLEDGE OF PUBLISHING
WORKSHOP FOR ASPIRING AUTHORS Led by Professor. Leslie G. Roman, Educational Studies
The process of publishing in refereed journals, academic and trade presses can appear opaque, if not mystifying. You may be wondering what different types of journals expect from prospective authors? How does one research and appropriately select a refereed journal when considering the best placement for your work? What is the difference between academic and trade publishers? What must one do to move a conference paper into a refereed publication? How does one navigate conflicting reviews and build rapport with the editor to secure that top tier publication? To find out answers to these everyday trade secrets of publishing, come join the workshop.
Prof. Roman is a sociologist of education, qualitative researcher who focuses on youth, disability studies and antiracism as intersectional.
