Individual research Interests
Dr. Katrin Kraus is most interested in how work and learning relate in changing times, and she has recently edited a book on this topic with some colleagues (link to the book, link to a review of the book). She’s doing theoretical and empirical work on this topic and approaches it at different levels – (a) on the level of politics, working mostly with actor-centered and institutional logic approaches. She also approaches it (b) at the level of organizations, such as workplaces and workplace learning, and (c) at the level of the individual, using a lifeworld and biographical approach following a social practice and social space approach. Dr. Katrin takes a lifelong and lifewide perspective in her work, focusing on adult age. In addition to the relationship between work and learning, She is researching how spaces of learning emerge in various places within and beyond educational institutions, using the concept of “doing space” here.
