It with great pleasure that we announce that EDST PhD Student, Orkhon Gantogtokh, has been selected as Fellow of The Institute of Asian Research (IAR) Program for 2021-2022.
The Institute of Asian Research Fellows Program brings together UBC graduate students with an interest in advancing research that addresses a broad range of issues — particularly those with relevance to policy or global affairs — and is based on engagement with and deep knowledge of Asia.

Orkhon Gantogtokh’s research examines locally established doctoral research training in Mongolia and its links between knowledge production and social development. Her research will more specifically explore how research training is shaped within the unique historical, economic, and cultural context of Mongolia. It is dedicated to improving the quality of research training in Mongolia to build up a strong research university in Central Asia in the future.
