Paola is an Adjunct Researcher at a leading Peruvian think tank and a (recently) PhD student at the University of Bristol. She has worked on qualitative research projects in her native country related to intercultural and rural education (Indigenous and Afro-Peruvian educational demands), social justice in education (transitional, epistemic, and environmental justice experience in public schools), and educational policies and reforms. Paola holds a MA in Educational Studies at UBC. Her thesis, Interculturality from Below: An Encounter of the Indigenous Movement with Peruvian Intercultural Education Policy, examined top-down and bottom-up perspectives on Peruvian intercultural education policy. She also worked for about five years in the Peruvian Ministry of Education, mainly in two reforms: the Public Teaching Career and the University Reform. She had a prominent role in the latter, an education policy reform unprecedented in Latin America. In 2020 she was appointed as a member of the advisory team of the Ministry of Education.
