As the Assistant Dean, Development & Alumni Engagement for the Faculty of Education at the University of British Columbia I direct a team of fundraising and alumni engagement professionals to raise funds for the Faculty. I have senior experience in the private sector, government, non-governmental organizations, healthcare and higher education institutions. I have worked for TD Bank in Electronic Banking and Corporate Communications, for the Canadian International Development Agency, UNICEF-Bangladesh, and St. Paul’s Foundation. At St. Paul’s Foundation I managed the Surgery + Imaging portfolio liaising with physicians and surgeons in 15 medical divisions and raised funds from a pool of 150 major gift donors in the $50K to $10M range. Active in community service, I have held volunteer leadership roles with the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC/Yukon, as Auction Chair for the Heart of Gold Gala for two years. I also served as a Board Member at the Vancouver Academy of Music for over 5 years. I hold a Ph.D. from UBC, where I examined the impact of Canadian philanthropy on higher education. My M.A. thesis at the University of Toronto examined an innovative UNICEF initiative to educate young female labourers in Bangladesh. I also hold a Fundraising Management Certificate from the B.C. Institute of Technology and a Certificate in Advanced Major Gift Success from the Madison Institute at the University of Wisconsin. In 2019, I completed the Women in Educational Leadership program at Harvard University.
